Our church-wide theme for June is “Simplicity,” and the Worship & Arts committee is breathing an appreciative sigh at the relative simplicity of our job, now that Rev. Amy is back from sabbatical.

We will start out the month by identifying and expressing Gratitude in its many forms, to and for members of our church community. This, our annual “Thank You” service, is a time when we see the visible, tangible effects of (some) of the hours of service that members and friends contribute to UUFE.

The second Sunday brings a beloved annual ritual, the Flower Communion, when everyone is invited to bring a flower to share. We will also acknowledge, by means of a bridging ceremony, our youth who are transitioning from one era of their lives to another.

June 19th will be Superhero Sunday! at UUFE. If you like, come dressed as your favorite Superhero, and be ready to think about how you show your admiration for that entity, AND how you might recognize others who share your perspective. Although June 19th is the third Sunday, we will postpone our monthly potluck to the 4th Sunday, June 26.

Elkhart Jazz Festival weekend brings our Jazz Brunch Worship Service, when we will have a time of worship facilitated by music from the French Quarter, followed by a period of fellowship and shared food, accompanied by more jazz. This brings us to the end of June, and the end of our church year.

Thanks to Rev. Amy’s first seven years here, we had a strong foundation from which to carry on worship services in her absence; now that she is back, that foundation will support us as we enter, together, Rev. Amy’s next ministry here at UUFE.
