The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Elkhart is presenting a six-session sexuality education class for adults to explore topics of sexuality through each individual’s lenses of values and lived experience, effective communications, and healthy relationships.
The classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays starting July 30, 2017, and continuing to Sept. 10 (there is no class on Sept. 3). The sessions are open to anyone at least 18 years old. Classes will meet at UUFE, 1732 Garden St., Elkhart, and are being offered for free. To register, send an email to with “OWL” in the subject line.
The instructors will be the Rev. Amy DeBeck, minister at UUFE, and her husband, Kevin. Both have received training in the Our Whole Lives sexuality education curriculum, which offers comprehensive age-appropriate classes for persons of all ages starting at the kindergarten age level.
Participants in the Our Whole Lives: Sexuality Education for Adults series will benefit from the “sexuality education opportunity you probably never had growing up.” Our Whole Lives (OWL) values:
- Self-worth
- Sexual health
- Responsibility
- Justice and inclusivity
OWL models and teaches caring, compassion, respect and justice. It helps adults address their attitudes, values, and feelings about themselves, their sexuality and others’ sexuality. Trained facilitators present an engaging program that addresses topics many adults have not had the opportunity to discuss in depth. OWL is a secular curriculum, appropriate for a variety of settings.
