Meet the

Board of Trustees
Carl Rust, president

(term ending in June 2023), has been a member since 2018. He retired after 30 years as a educator. Carl serves on the Religious Education Committee. He is a musician, a writer, and a budding naturalist.

Pam Wycliff, President Elect

was first a member at UUFE in 1975 until 1993. During that time was at times, Chair of RE, President, Treasurer and served on the Board several times. Upon returning from Massachusetts in 2006, was again on the Board for 3 years, Treasurer for 4 years and signed the book again in 2006. Pam is Registered Nurse with MSN. First graduated in 1966 and is now retired with many volunteer positions in community. She and husband, Don, live in South Bend.

Ken Clayborn, treasurer

(two-year term ending in 2024, total of eight years), is also a past president of the fellowship. Ken retired after 35 years at Miles/Bayer in various management positions. He and his wife, Joan, have been a members of UUFE since 2003.

Mike Darnel, Secretary

(term ending 2023) is once again UUFE secretary. Mike is also a past president of UUFE, having had two terms and nine months of a third. He is once again chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee and, with his wife Judy, is also again active in the production of the UUFE monthly newsletter, THE FOCUS. He retired as emeritus professor of mathematics at Indiana University South Bend after 32 years of service but remains active in mathematical research. Mike first joined UUFE in 1993 and, after a hiatus of 12 years, returned to membership in 2019.

Dwight Fish, trustee

(three-year term ending in 2024). Dwight has participated at many levels at UUFE in the 12 years he has attended. Elected as Trustee in 2021 for a three-year term, currently, he is directing the Minister Search Team as we look for a contract minister to support our new direction as a congregation. He is also the 4th District Councilperson in the City of Elkhart.

Linda Gill, trustee

 has been a member of UUFE for 17 years. She has also served on Stewardship, Religious Education, and the Building and Grounds committees multiple times. She is involved with the new monthly Sunday euchre group. She is married to Ron Gill and has two daughters and two wonderful grandsons she enjoys spending time with. She enjoys going out to eat, especially with the UUFE Feasters group. She has also attended weekly yoga classes at UUFE in the past, as well as the meditation sessions after service on Sundays. 

Mary Adams, Trustee

(1 year trustee, term ending 2023), has been a board member previously. She attended UUFE in the 1960’s and 1970s, teaching the About Sexuality classes. After a 38-year absence to CA, she returned to Elkhart and rejoined UUFE. She continues to serve as Coordinator for the Feasters group, Coordinator for the Care Tem, and Coordinator for the Monthly Community Euchre Games. She is a retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 40 years of clinical experience and 24 years in healthcare administration.

Steve Cripe, Trustee

 Steve has been a member of UUFE since 2014. He is currently serving his second stint as a trustee on the Church Board. He has served as Chair of the Worship and Arts Committee. He has helped with several ad hoc committees over the years. He enjoys music and has been the designated hymn leader during worship the last year or so after trying to form a choir years ago. He coordinates the roadside cleanup on CR 9 from Bristol Street to CR 6 in the spring and fall of each calendar year. He has been retired for several years and looks forward to continuing his work with UUFE along with his wife Karen, whom he met in the fellowship in 2013. 


Board of Trustees

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Elkhart’s Board of Trustees is elected at our annual congregational meeting in May. They meet at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. The meetings are open for all to attend. (During the pandemic, meetings have taken place via Zoom.)  Terms begin July 1-June 30.
